I Send You These Flowers - Paris 1908

Pont Alexandre spans the Seine - Widely regarded as the most ornate, extravagant bridge in Paris.

The bridge, with its exuberant art nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs, and winged horses at either end, was built between 1896 and 1900. Named after Tsar Alexander III in 1892, his son Nicholas II laid the foundation stone in October 1896.

A Word from Trish

Here I am in Ohio -- thousands of miles from Paris. I don't speak French, I don't own a poodle (owned a poodle skirt once), but I love fries and that special kiss.

I'm surprised by all I don't know and how did we ever get along without our computers.

I'm on Facebook, but you'll never find me. I'm old and grey and young at heart.

The beautiful girl with the blue eyes in the blue dress is my mother. When I was a girl, this dress was wrapped in tissue upstairs in the cedar chest. I used to wander up there and peek at the gown and wish I was grown enough to wear it. It has now disappeared, but the memory remains.

P. S. The joke's on me. One of the first postcards is Norwegian!

In 1900 Stanislaw Julian Ignacy, Count Ostrorog (1863-1935) moved the Walery by-line to Paris and began to specialize in the showgirls of Folies Bergere and subjects such as Mata Hari. His portraits of Josephine Baker are particularly celebrated.

Built in 1912, the first building, situated at 55-57 Avenue Raymond Poincaré quickly became a unique and privileged residence for the elite of Parisian Society. At number 59, the second and oldest part, was the residence of Alfred Nobel. It was rebuilt in 1910 in the Art Nouveau Style by the architects Charles Letrosne and Camille Garnier.
